Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of American Samoa, which is under the administration of the Ecclesiastical District of Hawaii-Pacific, held a clean-up drive at Lions Park, five kilometers away from their place of worship. The said park sits facing Pala Lagoon and is adjacent to the Pago Pago International Airport. The activity was held on April 13, 2024.
The brethren volunteered cleaning the said public park, decluttering it from trash and other wastes using cleaning materials that they brought with them.
“Our place might be remote but we make sure that we remain one with all the Church’s works. Through this activity, we genuinely aim to be of help to the society. Also, we hope to give a positive impact to nonmembers, that is, that we Church members are sincere in providing help when needed,” said Brother Brian Aniciete, the resident minister.
“Our brethren in American Samoa are relatively far from us here in Hawaii, where the district office is, but they definitely are one with us. It warms our hearts that despite the distance from us they enthusiastically respond to our call to actively join in Church activities, one of which is the clean-up drive they held under the INC Giving project,” Brother Gem Baitan, district supervising minister, said.
“It’s always satisfying to lend a helping hand in events like these,” said Ronnel Ponce, an active Church member, adding, “It’s my zeal to always prioritize Church activities launched by the Church Administration.”
