MARILAO, Bulacan — Almost 300 Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members flocked to the Balai Dalmacio Place and Events Center in Marilao, Bulacan, to participate in a blood donation activity organized by the Church on June 1, 2024.

Dr. Sherwin Pasiola, the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) president of Bulacan South Ecclesiastical District, said their group prepared for this activity and held devotional prayers for its success. “We are responding to the call of the Church Administration as part of the medical profession and to fulfill our duties,” he said.

Gina Villaflores, a second-time donor, was the first to line up for blood extraction. “It is essential for me to help my brothers and sisters in the Church Of Christ and those who need blood,” she said. It is the same view of the overwhelming number of donors who trooped to the recent blood donation activity of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in Bulacan.

The CMDPS is the association of members of the INC in the medical field who volunteer to help out in the socio-civic activities of the Church.

The Social Services Office of the INC facilitated the activity in partnership with the Bulacan Provincial Blood Center and the New Era General Hospital. The participants must undergo a medical check-up and blood screening to qualify as donors.

Dr. Cecilia Maramba of the Marilao Municipal Health Office said those qualified to donate blood should be at least 18 years old and “should not have any chronic diseases, for example, active tuberculosis, uncontrolled blood pressure, and other diseases transmissible through blood.”

“This is a highly significant activity because blood is one [valuable] commodity.  Currently, a lot of patients require blood transfusion, so it is a big help for them; thus, through donating blood, we were able to save lives,” she said.

As part of the continuing effort of the INC to help those in need, the activity collected almost 200 blood bags.

“We are very grateful to our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for his help to be able to do activities like these, and to our Christian Family Organizations coordinator, Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, for his support for these kinds of activities,” said Brother Eufracio Castillo Jr., the Supervising Minister in the INC’s Bulacan South District.

The activity commemorates the 90th anniversary of the INC’s Marilao Congregation in Bulacan.

INC members strive to help others and their respective communities.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) has members in 165 countries and territories.  Its members from around the world come from 151 racial and ethnic backgrounds.
