“We truly gave our best as we competed, making this initiative even more remarkable,” observed Reby Foronda, a Buklod member in the Local Congregation of Barangka-Mandaluyong in the Philippines who played volleyball. “Bonding with our fellow brethren in this activity has created wonderful and lasting memories,” she added.

The said congregation’s INC Unity Games on June 8, 2024 brought delight to players and spectators alike. Brother Chris Sasot, the congregation’s Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, led the CFO officers in organizing the activity. He said that various games have been scheduled up until August, just in time for the district-wide INC Unity Games.

The nine areas within the congregation competed in basketball, badminton, and volleyball. Each area organized a team to represent the Buklod, KADIWA, Binhi organizations, and the Children’s Worship Service (CWS).

The day’s program was held at the Saniboy Covered Court, located at 501 Saniboy St., Mandaluyong, 1550 Metro Manila. This venue also hosted the volleyball and badminton competitions on succeeding days, while the basketball tournament was held at the Hulo Integrated School gymnasium that is located at the Barangay Administration Building on E. Pantaleon, Mandaluyong.

Commencing the event, Brother Rodillo Gache,  resident minister, delivered his opening remarks. Upon expressing his gratitude to all in attendance, he then reminded everyone the main purpose of the games, that is, unity, and for them to remain active members of the Church. A prayer led by Brother Jyle Yno Florida, ministerial worker, followed, then the athletes’ taking oath of sportsmanship led by TJ Carr Quindara, Buklod vice president.

The congregation’s Unity Games not only provided an avenue for brethren “to exhibit skills in sports while bonding with their fellow brethren,” expressed Herson Payot, a KADIWA member, who played basketball. Also,“it has strengthened the bond among brethren and in every family as well,” attested Brother Gache.

Also in attendance to participate in the games, were the prospective members and doctrinal instructees, such as Junel Santos. He said, “I’m very amazed by the unity of the Church. I’m further motivated to continue joining the Church.” — With reports from Jyle Yno Florida
