“Love the Church truly,” exhorted Brother Gem Baitan, the supervising minister of Hawaii-Pacific District, during a special gathering of all the Church officers in the district on June 28, 2024.
The said holy occasion was held at the house of worship of the Ewa Beach Local Congregation, serving as the host site, with the rest of the attendees connected via livestreaming in their respective houses of worship.
During the study of God’s words, Brother Baitan stressed that Church officers who truly love the Church fulfill their duties devotedly, such as always looking after the brethren entrusted to their care. To be able to do so, the officers must strive to reach spiritual maturity, thereby ensuring not only their salvation but also of those entrusted to their care.
After the homily, 21 new officers in the Church took oath of respective duties as led by Brother Randy Weir, the district Church officers overseer.
“Holding an office in the Church is neither a setback nor a derailment in our aspirations in life,” said Brother Dontae Thompson, the district secretary. “The Holy Scriptures states that Church duty is a gift and a great blessing from God. Holding it helps the brethren towards becoming closer to God and further preserve their membership in the Church,” he added.
“Being an officer in the Church requires sacrifice. There were times that I had to allot so much time and resources just to carry out my duty. I am not, however, losing out because I know that God would never abandon me and my family as long as I devotedly fulfill my duty,” expressed Dianne Antonio, a deaconess from Ewa Beach Congregation.
“I will continue to uphold my duties earnestly,” Ernesto Ferrer, a deacon for more than 40 years now from the Local Congregation of Pearl Harbor said. “That way, I will continue to be of help to the Church Administration in edifying the faith of my fellow brethren.”— With reports from Erwin Sunga
