The Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD) in the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur, Philippines, organized the INC Unity Games for differently-abled brethren. It was held on August 17, 2024, at a compound in Barangay Bonifacio, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

CSD is one of the organizations under the supervision of the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ). As its name signifies, it “caters to the welfare of our brethren who are deaf,” said Brother Esteban Cervantes Jr., the district CFO overseer.

Attendees were in for a friendly competition on darts, board games, chess, and checkers. The sports events thus “gave our Deaf brethren a chance to show their skills and for them to further bond as true Christians,” said Brother Rosjen Gullem, the CSD adviser.

“We really enjoyed being able to have fun with each other. We’re really joyous to participate in the Church works. We thank the Church Administration for always looking after our welfare,” Rogelio Regalado, Deaf member from the Local Congregation of Cabugao, interpreted via Sign Language. He attended with her wife, Laina Mae.

Winners received recognition. Other participants were as joyful as them for just having participated such activities, knowing “these were launched by the Church Administration as a way for them to feel that sense of solidarity and belonging, thereby edifying them in the faith,” Brother Gullem added. — With assistance from Edlyn Antolin
