The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) completes major interior and exterior renovations to its worship building in Beaconsfield, Quebec, captivating the attention of Church members and neighbors alike.
QUEBEC, Canada — While driving down St. Charles Boulevard, residents in Beaconsfield, Quebec, slow down to admire a towering, elegant edifice just off the main road: the newly renovated worship building of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) or the Church Of Christ.
The INC or Church Of Christ, which now has congregations in 165 countries and territories, originally purchased the building at 300 St. Charles Boulevard in 1985. Then owned by the “First Church of Christ, Scientist”, initial renovations made it suitable for the gatherings conducted by the INC. For the next 35 years, the Beaconsfield house of worship served as the main site for countless worship services to God, as well as family-focused activities and socio-civic initiatives.
In the spirit of further beautifying the beloved edifice, major interior and exterior renovations were completed between March 2020 and September 2024 culminating in a special worship service that rededicated the worship building on September 28, 2024. The gathering was led by Brother Moriel D. Cadacio, the District Supervising Minister of the Ecclesiastical District of Ottawa.
Witnesses to the event were Church members from the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec. While many were connected via live video streaming, others made the hours-long journey to personally see the remodeled chapel and attend the special worship service.
The remodeled chapel has a 130-seater main sanctuary complete with two full chandeliers and a custom-designed Johannus organ. Meanwhile, the main facade bears the elegance and grandeur that is distinct to the thousands of Iglesia Ni Cristo chapels that can be found worldwide.
Aside from adding physical beauty to the neighborhood, the Beaconsfield house of worship greatly contributes to the spiritual lives of INC members in the area.
“This is the house of God and we are always welcome to come here if we have sufferings, if we have trials in life. If we are sick also, we could come here and pray,” stated Sister Emi Inoncillo, a deaconess in the Beaconsfield congregation.
INC District Minister Brother Cadacio said, “[The house of worship] is a blessing for all the brethren, for each family here in this part of the world, for all the parents, and for all the youth members.”
“They have a place where their faith will be strengthened. They have a place where they can talk to God. They can pray to God. They can ask for help. And they can ask for guidance,” he said.
Church Of Christ members are also eager to share this blessing to their neighbors.
“We cannot express in words how happy we are. We will be more active when it comes to fulfilling our duties … especially when it comes to inviting people to listen to the words of God,” affirms Brother Acer Rambuyong, a head deacon.
The rededication of the Beaconsfield worship building comes at an eventful time of growth for the Iglesia Ni Cristo in Canada. In recent months, the Church also conducted historic inaugurations of Group Worship Services in the following areas: Brooks, Alberta; Forest Hill, Ontario; Kincardine, Ontario; Labrador West, Newfoundland and Labrador; and Terrace, British Columbia.
