In collaboration with New Era University (NEU), the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) Office launched ‘Bookmobile,’ a library-on-wheels for the young members of the Church.
The Bookmobile, a passenger bus converted to offer a reading space for kids, offers various genre of children’s books ranging from instructional materials on English, Mathematics, and health, to books promoting Christian values. It also offers coloring books along with materials that foster creativity for the young.
“This project was launched by the Church Administration to promote the importance of reading books. Reading is a good hobby for kids for them to learn things that could help them along in life,” said Brother Daniel Eleazar Valdez, one of the facilitators.
On October 12, 2024, mobile library visited the Luzon Avenue Congregation, Ecclesiastical District of Central. It was followed by a stop at the Faculty Condominium located along Central Avenue on October 19, then on October 26 to Green Condo Congregation, in the same district.
Mavi Miranda, Children’s Worship Service (CWS) member from Templo Central Congregation expressed how happy she was upon entering the bus: “I saw a lot of books. I really enjoyed reading there with other kids. I really liked when they read to us a book about praying to God.”
“It’s also a good avenue for the children to get to know each other. Teaching them to be book lovers will help them to be studious for their school works,” said Edgie Macadangdang, parent from Templo Central. — With assistance from Kate Russel Mabale and Princess Trinidad
