The Ecclesiastical District of Saskatchewan has a new GWS under its jurisdiction: the Assiniboia, Saskatchewan Group Worship Service (GWS). With the approval of the Church Administration, its inaugural worship service was held at the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre in Assiniboia, Canada, on November 3, 2024. Brother Ramil Macaspac, the district supervising minister, officiated at the holy occasion.
After his homily, the GWS’s pioneering set of officers took their oath of duty with Brother Matthew Carter, the district Church officers overseer, leading them.
“Before the Assiniboia GWS was established, the brethren there had to travel for more than an hour to attend worship services in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan GWS’s place of worship. Traveling was not easy for them, especially during the winter season,” attested Jerwin Candido, an assistant group overseer of Moose Jaw GWS.
Brother Jayson Caluza has been appointed as the resident minister of the Assiniboia GWS, which is under the supervision of the Local Congregation of Regina, Saskatchewan.
“I felt an immeasurable happiness as our request to be a GWS has been granted. I thank our Lord God for His guidance and love. I also express my heartfelt gratitude to our dearest Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. The approval for the establishment of the GWS here bespeaks his genuine love and concern for us,” expressed Jerome Bautista, one of the pioneering members and a newly sworn group overseer of Assiniboia.
“I thank our Lord God for answering the brethren’s prayers by bringing the place of worship closer to them,” said Brother Jayson Caluza, the resident minister of Assiniboia GWS. “Upon receiving the news that the Church Administration approved the establishment of Assiniboia GWS, we promptly informed the brethren. Their happiness was truly evident, especially during the inaugural worship service,” he added. — With reports from John Alvin Ching of INC News Section
