Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in the Ecclesiastical District of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, in the Philippines, helped their fellowmen by participating in a blood donation activity on October 26, 2024 and Lingap sa Mamamayan (Care for Humanity) event five days later, on October 31.
The district Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers and members facilitated the blood donation that was held at Gaisano Grand Bacolod City. The qualified donors, out of the many brethren from 14 local congregations, were able to donate 21 bags of blood. “These will be used for helping Church members and nonmembers alike, who need blood because of hospitalization or operation,” said Venus Nuarbe, CMDPS president.
“Thanks for the opportunity to be of help to my fellowmen through this donating of blood,” said Teofilo Plajiro Jr., KADIWA member from Airport Subdivision Congregation.
“The goal of the Church Administration in launching blood donation activities is truly for the benefit of both the beneficiary and donor,” remarked Brother Filjohn Lozada, ministerial worker in the Victorias City Local Congregation. “It helps not only in the needs of patients but also in maintaining the donors’ good health, which is essential in their daily lives, and most importantly, in their services to God.”
Meanwhile, aside from providing assistance to the residents in Barangay Guimbalaon, Silay City, the Lingap sa Mamamayan organized at the said village’s covered court was held as the brethren’s way of celebrating with the Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo whose birthday falls on the said day.
A total of 700 care packages were handed over by ministers led by Brother Randy Samson, district supervising minister.
“I’m truly grateful to the Iglesia Ni Cristo members for their efforts. Even though we may not know each other personally, they are giving help to those in need. And this aid is a big help, especially with the difficult times people here are facing right now,” expressed Jessa Sianosa, a beneficiary.
“We also aim to make the Church Of Christ known to our fellowmen so that we may help them not only in their needs in this world but most of all, for them to receive the Lord God’s promised salvation,” said Brother Gerald Gado, resident ministerial worker of the Guimbalaon Local Congregation. — With reports from Roche Esmalde and Jonwelle Cariaga of INC News Section
