CAMARINES SUR, Philippines — The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church Of Christ) recently extended assistance to those affected by Typhoon Pepito in the Bicol region through its Lingap sa Mamamayan (Care for Humanity) program.
A day after the typhoon left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the INC distributed care packages containing rice and canned goods to thousands of residents in Camarines Norte and later in Camarines Sur which have been hard-hit by not only Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi), but also by tropical cyclone “Nika” (international name Toraji) this November, and storm Kristine (international name Trami) last October.
On November 19, 2024, the INC distributed the food packages to three areas in Camarines Norte. The first was in Daet where over 300 households from various barangays received assistance. The second was held in barangays Borabod and Bagasbas benefiting at least 240 individuals and families. The third was held in Mercedes where at least 250 households received assistance. The Lingap sa Mamamayan in Camarines Norte was led by INC District Minister David Peralta.
On the succeeding days, November 20 and 21, 2024, the INC conducted its Lingap sa Mamamayan in five areas in Camarines Sur. Four of these were held on November 20. These were in the towns of Goa, Siruma, Tinambac and Dolo which benefited some 2,000 individuals. On November 21, the INC conducted another Lingap sa Mamamayan, this time in the Calibayan, Pasacao area, particularly in the compound of the INC Congregation of Tinalmud, which benefited at least 400 recipients. The distribution of Lingap or care packages in the towns of Siruma, Tinambac and Tinalmud in Camarines Sur was led and supervised by Brother Misael Dungca, the INC District Minister in Naga City, Camarines Sur. The Lingap sa Mamamayan held in the towns of Goa and Dolo was supervised by Brother Roy dela Peña, the INC District Minister in Iriga City, Camarines Sur.
