BARAS, Rizal — On Saturday, December 7, 2024, Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church Of Christ) members gathered at the New Era University College Of Agriculture building in Barangay Pinugay, in Baras, Rizal for a life-saving blood donation drive. From 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, INC volunteers from nearby local congregations participated in this vital initiative to help replenish critical blood supplies for hospitals and patients in need.
This blood donation drive was organized in collaboration with the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) to ensure safe and efficient donation procedures while strictly adhering to health and safety protocols.
“Blood donation is an essential service that helps the community by providing safe blood for patients, especially those with critical health conditions. One donor can potentially save three lives,” said Dr. Jeffrey Roman, a PCMC physician and a participant in INC blood donation events since 2020. He emphasized the lasting impact of such initiatives on the community’s well-being.
Donors for this event came from the Pinugay, Teresa, and Dema May-iba congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Rizal East, according to Brother Francisco Catalan, the INC Resident Minister of the Pinugay Congregation.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo’s Social Services Office (INCSSO) and the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS)—which includes trained medical professionals—played a crucial role in ensuring that all donors underwent health screenings before donation.
The INC conducts blood donations to show its “love and concern for the people—whether they belong to the INC or not,” explained Brother Arnel Macatangay, the District Supervising Minister in Rizal East.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) is a Christian religion in more than 165 countries and territories. It is composed of members from more than 150 different ethnicities and nationalities.
