On December 25, 2024, the inaugural worship of the Ljubljana Group Worship Service (GWS) was held. The occasion signaled the inception of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) in the Central European country of Slovenia, which, as of this writing, is the 168th country the Church has reached.
The Church Administration sent Brother Dennis C. Lovendino, minister of the gospel and the editor-in-chief of the Pasugo: God’s Message magazine, to officiate the inaugural worship service. Assisting him were Brother Randy S. Macalinao, Italy North District supervising minister, and fellow ministers constituting the district leadership. Brethren from various local congregations and GWS in the district also attended to witness this momentous occasion.
The pioneering set of officers took their oath of duty after the preaching of God’s words. Among them was Erwin Macahindog, the GWS’s overseer.
“I thank God for answering our devotional prayers about having a GWS here in Slovenia. I’m overwhelmed by the happiness and spiritual graces I’ve just received,” said Macahindog. “I will be instrumental in the further progress of the Church here. With God’s help, I will be able to bring along my nonmember friends and acquaintances,” he added.
Prior to the establishment of the GWS, Church members in Ljubljana attended worship services and other Church activities with the Trieste GWS, in Italy, which is more than 90 kilometers away from the Slovenian capital.
“I’m so happy that we now have our own GWS. Praises be to God, and many thanks to our Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. They can expect that I will continue devotedly fulfilling my Church duty, especially the propagation of God’s words,” said Caroline Mansilla.
The inaugural worship service was held at Pot za Brdom 4, 1000, Ljubljana. Succeeding worship services will be held at Hotel Azul hall, 26 Suceba, Kranj, Slovenia. — With reports from Karmina Vargas and Kate Luistro
