“Never fail in one’s duty,” was the core message delivered during the meetings of all Church officers in the Ecclesiastical District of General Santos City, South Cotabato, in the Philippines, that were conducted on January 26, 2025 in four sites, namely, the houses of worship of the Local Congregation of Alabel, General Santos City, Glan, and Malungon. During the said simultaneous gatherings, a total of 215 new officers took oath.
The officiating ministers were Brother Herman Madayag, assistant district supervising minister, Brother Arnie Javier, district edification overseer, Brother Oliver Gonda, district Church officers’ overseer, and Brother Ponie Anggo, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, respectively.
In their Bible-based lectures, the ministers emphasized that Church officers must be faithful, diligent, and willing to make sacrifices, such as enduring life’s challenges, for them not to fail in their duties. By doing so, God will bless them not only in this life but even more so in the life to come—eternal life on Judgment Day.
After the homily, the newly appointed Church officers took their oath of office. One of them was Aleiyah Joy Cañas, chronicler of the Local Congregation of Tinagacan. “I deeply thank the Lord God for entrusting me with this duty. I promise to perform it wholeheartedly and carry it out until the end for the sake of my salvation and those under my care,” she said.
Among the Church officers in attendance who have counted many years in fulfilling their duties, Arnel Aban, a head deacon in the Local Congregation of Pag-asa, said, “The duty that the Lord God has entrusted me is not an easy task. However, I’m further inspired to fulfill it, knowing that I can be of help to the Church Administration, in overseeing the spiritual well-being of the brethren. I vow to remain steadfast in my duty until the end.”
“We thank God for appointing many officers who will assist the Church Administration in overseeing the flock in these last days,” expressed Brother Madayag, on behalf of all his fellow ministers and ministerial workers in the district. — With reports from Erli Lev Aban
