SAMPALOC, Manila — Two hospitals in Quezon City took part in a blood donation drive on April 9, 2025 that was organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).

The Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) and the New Era General Hospital (NEGH) partnered with the INC for this activity that would benefit patients in need of blood in their hospitals, including those considered emergency cases.

Dr. Kristelle Anne Mae Fabe from PCMC said such initiatives are a huge help for them. “We’ve been receiving support from the INC through these blood donations for nearly a decade now. Many patients currently at PCMC have leukemia, polycythemia, and anemia—most of them are cancer patients who need blood. We’re very thankful for this continued support,” she said.

One of the donors was Marie Gascon, who shared how the lives of three of her loved ones had been saved because of the blood donated by INC members. In her family, her youngest son, Rolando Gascon Jr. was the first to benefit from past INC blood donation activities, followed by her sister-in-law, and then, her mother-in-law.

“My youngest, [who is] 36 years old [now], was in dire need of blood back then. Our need was immediately met. That’s why this time, I’m donating again for those in need,” she shared.

Other volunteers were people who simply wanted to help in such life-saving initiatives. Police Major Marvin Inocencio from the Makati City Police Station said that when he heard about the INC blood drive, he “went right away to donate,” saying this was “his way of supporting meaningful projects like these.”

Aside from supporting hospitals, the INC’s blood donation initiative aims to promote the spirit of unity, voluntary service, and readiness to help, especially in unexpected situations where blood is urgently needed.

For INC members, participating in activities like the blood donation drive was part of their commitment in obeying God’s command to help those in need. “We do this to let others feel our compassion; [we want] to help them and to fulfill God’s teachings,” said Brother Dennis Cura, an INC minister.
