Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) conducted three simultaneous blood donation drives on August 21, 2024, in Quezon Province and two other locations in Metro Manila to help meet the community’s blood needs.
Nearly 200 bags of blood were collected from INC members who participated in these activities.
In collaboration with Quezon Medical Center (QMC) for the blood donation held in Lucena City, they collected 136 bags of blood from over 190 INC members who gathered on the 3rd floor of Pacific Mall.
On the same day, INC also conducted blood donations in two locations in Metro Manila. Partnering with the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS), they collected 20 blood bags in Malabon and 43 blood bags in Makati.
In Lucena City, CMDPS members from neighboring provinces also assisted with health screenings.
According to Brother Joel Santiago, Assistant Supervising Minister in the Quezon District, INC members from various local congregations in the province arrived early and “unitedly” went to the activity site.
“This is in response to the call of our [INC Executive Minister] to help not only our brethren within the Church but also those who are not [members] so that many people can benefit,” added Brother Santiago.
Among those who participated were individuals who had previously received blood when they needed it.
“My husband, when he underwent surgery for a brain aneurysm, and my sister, when she gave birth … we also needed blood, and they responded quickly, and we were given blood immediately,” shared Joan de Rama, one of the blood donors. “That’s why we also donated blood to help those in need,” she added.
QMC personnel were pleased with the successful blood donation drive as it will help many people.
“One donor can help three people [because] we divide the blood into three components,” explained Dr. Denise Joyce Paredes of QMC.
