Part of a series of activities held for the 100th birth anniversary of Brother Eraño G. Manalo (1925-2009), who served as the Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo from 1963 to 2009, the Ecclesiastical District of British Columbia conducted a baptism on January 11, 2025.

“As we commemorate the birth anniversary of Brother Eraño Manalo, the district reaps the fruits of the labors of the brethren in sharing the words of God. Leading many people to the true Church for them to be saved glorifies God,” explained Brother Churchill Ibasco, District Light of Salvation (LOS) overseer.

Held at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Burnaby, the study of God’s words before the baptism was led by Brother Glendo Baitan, district supervising minister. The biblical message conveyed helped the candidates for baptism reflect on their lives and understand what they must do to remain in God’s favor as members of the true Church.

Afterwards, the would-be members took the oath of membership, followed by their immersion into the water, which was led by Brother Romeo Maglaya, assistant district supervising minister, and Brother Jay Sicad, also a minister of the gospel.

Austin Lehmann shared his journey toward discovering the truth. “I’ve always been curious about having faith. When a co-worker invited me to the Church Of Christ, I felt a presence I couldn’t explain. That experience drove me to learn more about the Church, God, and Jesus Christ.”

After the baptism, a ‘Welcome, My Brethren’ activity was held at the same house of worship. The newly baptized brethren, along with present doctrinal instructees and guests, were warmly welcomed by the Church members throughout the district.

Brother Rennel Romero, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, then shared the CFO activities planned for the first quarter of the year, encouraging the brethren to actively participate.

As he looked forward to his life as a Church member, Lehmann promised, “I will remain an active member because my faith is strong, and I know exactly Who the true God is. I’ll stay until the end because my faith is what binds me to Him. When hardships come, God will always be there to help me.”— With reports from INC News Section
