The Catbalogan Congregation choir won the Himig ng Kaligtasan (Songs of Salvation) finals of the Ecclesiastical District of Western Samar on April 6, 2025, at the covered court of Northwest Samar State University in San Jorge, Samar in the Philippines.
Besting six other finalists, members of the winning choir performed the INC original song Ang Ama Ang Magbibigay Ng Kalakasan (The Father will give the strength). They garnered the top scores in all criteria including, musicality, voice quality, and stage presentation.
“I’m overjoyed for winning this competition,” expressed Edlen Zamora, member of the Catbalogan Congregation choir. Resident minister Brother Warren De Guzman remarked, “With heartfelt gratitude to the Lord God and the Church Administration, this event has inspired and uplifted the attendees, especially the participants, as we firmly believe it has brought joy and glory to our Almighty God.”
First runner-up Calbayog City Congregation choir sang its rendition of Tatlong Araw At Tatlong Gabi (Three days and three nights), second runner-up San Jorge Congregation choir for Throughout the Years of His Leadership, and third runner-up Iguid Congregation choir for Magpapasakop Sa Namamahala Sa Iglesia (Will submit to the Executive Minister).
“The Church Administration approved this activity for the edification of the brethren,” explained KADIWA district president Grace Sadullo, who is also one of the event organizers. “The brethren’s unity, in heeding the call of the Administration for them to be more active in Church activities, has been evident.”
The panel of judges was composed of Jean Claude Macion (Bachelor of Music – Major in Choral Conducting, New Era University or NEU), Cleeve Limuel Carpio (former coach of Battle of the Bands in NEU), Von Joshua Flores, (Bachelor of Music, Major in Piano in NEU and UP Diliman – Piano), and Brother Marvin Estrada (minister assigned in San Jorge Congregation). — With reports from Mark Jherriel Red Inot
