RAMON, Isabela — Close to 400 residents of the southern part of Isabela participated in a blood donation drive that took place at the Ramon Multi-Purpose Hall in Ramon town in Isabela on April 5, 2025. Many of those who joined were families who wanted to help address the critical need for blood of patients in their province with urgent needs.
About 120 blood bags were collected during this successful blood donation activity organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC). All collected donations were transferred to De Vera Medical Center Inc. (DVMCI), in Santiago City—about a half hour’s drive from the town of Ramon—to help address the blood needs of patients facing life-threatening conditions, including those with emergency cases.
Juvelin Basilio, Director of Hospital Operations and Patient Support Services at DVMCI, thanked the INC’s ongoing support to provide critical blood supplies. “On behalf of De Vera Medical Center, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this life-saving initiative,” he said.
The president of DVMCI, Leopoldo Amistoso, Jr., who visited the event venue to observe, thanked the INC for the blood donation activity. He expressed admiration for the huge turnout of participants who wanted to donate blood during the event, saying that this was a big help to their hospital.
The event was led by Brother Esmeraldo Mayoralgo, the INC District Minister of Isabela South, who observed that entire households came out to join in the activity, contributing to the huge turnout of participants. “The strong turnout today speaks of the unity and compassion of INC members. It’s inspiring to see so many come together for such an important cause,” he said.
Siblings Rico and Rey Patricio, alongside their cousin Aries, joined the effort. “We want to help those in need,” said Rico. “Donating blood is one way to make a real difference,” Rey remarked.
Jerome de Guzman and his wife Lovely Joy donated together for the first time. “It feels good knowing we’re helping others,” Lovely Joy shared. “It’s a simple act, but it can save lives.”
Chrissel Mae Lazaro from Santiago City was inspired to donate because of her family’s struggles with blood shortages. “Seeing my mother’s condition made me realize the importance of blood donation,” she explained.
First-time donors Rhyan and Rhealyn Cacayuran shared their reasons for participating. Rhyan, who recently recovered from an accident, said, “I want to help others who need blood.” “This is our first time donating, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the community,” Rhealyn said.
Blood donation activities are regularly conducted by members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) to continuously help those in need in their communities, especially hospitals which continuously need to replenish their blood supplies for patients in critical conditions.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a Christian religion and community partner that helps. It has active members and congregations in more than 160 countries and territories.
