The finals of the “Chronicling the INC in 2024: A Photo Essay Competition” in the Ecclesiastical District of Rosales, Pangasinan was held on December 28, 2024. With the theme “People of God should continue to please Him,” the activity aimed “to demonstrate through photographs how members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) become even more active in their membership and steadfast in the faith,” shared Brother Christian Esperanza, district chronicler, said.
The entries, 28 in all, were displayed at the district’s conference room in Rosales. The entries, divided into four categories: propagation, edification, Christian Family Organizations (CFO), and socio-civic, were judged according to the criteria set by the Iglesia Ni Cristo Research and Information Section.
Named first-placers in each category were Gedelyn Framil, local congregation chronicler and district Children’s Worship Service president from San Felipe San Nicolas Congregation (propagation and CFO); Rhea Jean Marquez, local congregation chronicler and choir member from Cabaruan Congregation (edification); and Lea Velicaria, local congregation chronicler and finance officer from Balungao Congregation (socio-civic).
“I was happy and surprised when I heard my entry being announced as first-place in the edification category,” exclaimed Marquez who was a first-time contestant in the competition.
Meanwhile, Velicaria, who was eagerly taking part in the activity since 2019, expressed how “thankful and joyful” she was upon winning in the category she joined in. “This encourages me to further participate in activities launched by the Church Administration,” she stated.
“I shall continue to cherish the experience I had in joining this competition, and I promise to continue in helping the Church Administration in preserving the history of my local congregation,” expressed Framil.
“This activity further inspires brethren to become more zealous in their services to God for it shows how God fulfills His promises that He will help, strengthen, and uphold His nation in these last days,” added Brother Esperanza.
Prior to the district finals, eliminations were held in each local congregation on December 15, 2024, and on each area on December 22, 2024. — With reports from Blaise Angeli Hidalgo
