The Ecclesiastical District of Pampanga North in the Philippines celebrated the 110th Anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) through a variety of activities.
Fun walk, human monogram
On July 27, 2024, the day of the 110th anniversary, more than 4,000 brethren gathered at Clark Global City, Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, for a Fun Walk. They were led by Brother Arnel Agorilla, district supervising minister. The culmination of that day’s activity was the human monogram wherein the brethren formed the phrase “INC 110 PAMPANGA NORTH” as viewed from an aerial perspective.
Medical Mission
Two days after, on July 29, the district held a medical mission at Marcos Village basketball court in Mabalacat City. Free medical and dental services were provided. Free medicines and reading glasses were also given. Also distributed were free toothbrush kits for children.
Among the beneficiaries was Jessie Lumanlan, 65, who “appreciated the care provided by members of the Church Of Christ towards [him] and the entire community.”
Tree planting
The next day, July 30, brethren flocked to the DENR Tree Planting Site in Barrio Sapangbato, Angeles City for a tree-planting activity. A total of 1,000 seedlings of various trees, such as guyabano, cacao, cashew, and citrus, were planted.
Monica Paz, choir member and Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) member from the Local Congregation of Mabalacat, expressed her gratefulness for being “able to take part in this activity which shows the concern of the Church Of Christ for the environment.”
Pay It Forward Campaign
As their way of spreading kindness to more people, the district held an activity dubbed “Pay It Forward Campaign.” As its name signifies, the activity was conducted “as a way of caring for our fellowmen and as a way of giving glory to God,” said Karla Sunga, the district KADIWA president.
The said socio-civic activity was first held on August 2, 2024 at Waltermart in San Fernando City, then on August 3 at selected parks, terminals, toll exits, and markets in Pampanga.
Through the activity, food and other items such as umbrellas, bottles of rubbing alcohol and perfume, nail cutters, and foldable fans were given for free. Free services such as glucose checkup and blood pressure monitoring. The beneficiaries also enjoyed participating in games likewise prepared for them.
Individuals and families including mallgoers, public utility vehicle drivers and passengers benefited from the two-day event.
Significance
“Through these activities, brethren in our district were edified in their faith, and were encouraged to help even more in the various works of the Church which all aim to bring joy at glory to the Almighty God,” Brother Ruel Cervantes, assistant district supervising minister, stated. — With reports from John Louie Domingo
