Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Honokaa, Ecclesiastical District of Hawaii-Pacific tidied up Spencer Beach Park in Waimea, Kawaihae, Hawaii, on March 23, 2025. Resident minister Brother Jeffrey Domingo led them.
An ideal destination for beachgoers, the said park is one of the northernmost-white sand beaches of the Big Island. With its tree-shaded lawns and facilities, such as restrooms, showers, and a large pavilion with tables, the beach park is perfect for picnics. It is just a two-hour drive from the house of worship of the said congregation.
Donned in INC Giving clothes, Church members brought along cleaning materials and started to declutter the place of litter as well as properly disposing it afterwards. The picturesque park set the scene for the brethren to bond and improve camaraderie.
“It’s always a fulfilling experience to be active in Church activities,” enthused finance officer Elynor Mercado. “With my fellow brethren, I truly enjoyed the camaraderie. While it’s an initiative to maintain the environment, I know that this also pleases our Lord God.”
“The activeness of the brethren in Church works proves the ever-present love of the Lord God for us. He wants us to be zealous in the faith, which is pivotal for our salvation. Events like this not only foster the brotherhood but also benefits our society,” said Brother Domingo. On behalf of the congregation, he added, “We continue to promise to the Lord God that we will remain true in our calling in the Church.”
The Local Congregation of Honokaa is one of the five local congregations located at Big Island, the others being Kailua Kona, Keaau, Hilo, and Naalehu. — With reports from INC News Section
