On January 3, 2025, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), through the Ecclesiastical District of Benguet, gave aid to the fire victims in a residential area at Sitio Camp 6, Brgy. Camp 4, Tuba, Benguet, Philippines.
The said residents met with the tragedy a few hours after welcoming the new year.
“The fire affected 26 houses and more than 60 families in the vicinity. By 6:30 am of January 1, we declared a fire out. Amid the damages, it’s really good to see a lot of help flowing into this, helping the affected population to cope up,” said Orvil Bumacas, Chief Intelligence and Investigation Unit, Tuba Fire Station.
Led by district supervising minister Brother Ardy D. Mendoza, brethren handed over more than 190 care packages containing food stuff, clothing, among other necessities to those afflicted among whom are Church Of Christ members.
“Upon knowing that there were brethren who were affected, our Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo has been prompt in immediately instructing us to send aid to the affected areas, both to Church members or nonmembers. On their part, our brethren in the district quickly coordinated with us to help in bringing about such aid knowing that doing so is one of God’s commands,” said Brother Mendoza.
A member of the local governance, Dalen Bantiyao, said, “We really appreciate the efforts of the Church Of Christ in sending much needed aid to our residents. It will boost our efforts in helping the recovery of the affected families. We thank you for helping us in this.”
Jarlyn Anne Gawili, a choir member in Camp 6 Congregation, was among the recipients. “During these times, it’s really hard to recover from the stress and damages but as members of the Church, such are times to prove our faith. We prayed earnestly for help and God answered; He protected us. We thank the Church Administration for the constant care for our welfare,” she said. — With reports from Heidi Mateo of INC News Section
