BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Hundreds of Bataan residents who are Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members help the community by participating in a blood donation on May 10, 2024, at Vista Mall.

The event was facilitated by the INC’s Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) partnered with the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.

Although the activity was to begin at 10 a.m., several INC volunteers came enthusiastically early, underwent screening, and donated blood. Maria Luisa Iñigo, 57, a Hermosa resident and regular blood donor, was among them.

Isa pa, nakakatulong ako sa mga tao, sa mga kababayan natin na nangangailangan ng dugo [One more reason is that I’ll be helping people, our countrymen, who need blood],” Maria Luisa said.

Medical personnel, including medical technologists, who have previously participated in INC-sponsored blood donations observed how organized these events were. They also noted the enthusiasm of INC members who patiently wait in line to donate blood.

Nabibilib po kaming lahat. Pag may [massive] blood donation isang buhat talaga.  Pag sinabi na 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., talagang dagsa na sila nang 8 to 4; naghihintay patiently, sa pila wala pong naiinip [We are all impressed. When there’s a blood donation, it is one united effort. If the blood donation is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., INC members will come in great numbers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., waiting patiently in line],” noted Fame Clarendo, medical technologist for 10 years at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.

The INC is an avid supporter of blood donations with the assistance of the CMDPS members who “help in activities concerning health, medical and dental missions, and blood donation programs,” explained Dr. Jazzie Ramirez, a pediatrician and CMDPS member who helped during the Bataan blood drive.

In recent weeks, other INC volunteers donated blood here and abroad: in Notting Hill, London, England; San Juan, Batangas; Dasmariñas, Cavite; Better Living and United Parañaque 1, Parañaque; and Maysan, Valenzuela, Caloocan City.

Even on this same day, May 10, INC volunteers are giving blood in Herbosa, Tondo, Manila.

Iglesia Ni Cristo members strive to help their respective communities.

The INC has active members and congregations in more than 160 countries and territories.
