Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in the Ecclesiastical District of Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur in the Philippines continue to be of help in keeping the environment clean-and-green as they united in conducting clean-up drives on May 21, 2024 and a tree-planting activity on May 25.

The simultaneous clean-up drives on May 21 were held at public spaces by brethren from the Local Congregations of Pagadian City and Tukuran. The venues were the Dao Sports Complex and Tukuran Beach Resort, respectively.

“It feels rewarding to take part in this activity through which we’re able to promote cleanliness and orderliness,” shared Fely Nasol, a deaconess in Pagadian City.

Brother Nelcar Loberiano, district supervising minister, and Brother Carlito Gonzales Jr., assistant district supervising minister, graced the clean-up activity in Pagadian City with their presence.

In Tukuran, many young brethren participated. Thus the activity, “has rekindled the Church youth’s awareness in caring for the environment, as they set good example for our fellowmen,” said Fervehn Curt de Mesa, a KADIWA officer.

Meanwhile, the tree planting activity was participated in by brethren from all the 55 local congregations of the district. They planted on a vacant land more than 2,000 coconut, narra, lauan, falcate, and mahogany seedlings, which the DENR provided.

“Trees serve a vital purpose in preventing and mitigating natural disasters, such as landslides and flooding, thus keeping people safe from harm and danger,” said Brother Olivon Arpilleda, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer.
