In commemoration of its 100th anniversary, the Local Congregation of Pandacan in the Ecclesiastical District of Manila, Philippines, opened an exhibit entitled “Centennial History Exhibit: A Century of History” at its house of worship compound on November 23, 2024.
Guided by the resident minister Brother Jorge Faraon, the congregation’s leadership and other officers joined efforts in preparing the said exhibit, which aimed at deepening the brethren’s knowledge of the congregation’s rich history while edifying them in the faith.
The program for the exhibit began with Brother Faraon leading a prayer, followed by musical performances by a guest choir, Barrio Obrero Congregation Chorale, featuring Iglesia Ni Cristo original music. Then, Brother Jase Galliguez, the district chronicler, delivered the opening remarks. He expressed gratitude to God for the abundant blessings He bestowed and continues bestowing upon the congregation through the years.
The program continued with Brother Cornelio Cortez Jr., the INC Museum Director, and Brother Randy Bauto, assistant district supervising minister, leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterwards, all present toured the exhibit.
The outdoor display featured a Photo Gallery, which showcased old photos of Church officers and the congregation’s past activities. Mounted in detail is a History Walkthrough, which offered an immersive experience of significant events and milestones in the congregation’s history.
Some memorabilias, such as trophies and certificates of recognition the congregation received upon active participation in various activities, were also displayed. Also, a video presentation was shown featuring the elder brethren, who shared their experiences when the local congregation was in its nascent years. Dedicated to the younger members of the Church, they even gave sound advices in accordance with God’s will.
“Their messages have truly inspired me to remain active in the Church until the end,” expressed Yragael Salamat, a Children’s Worship Service (CWS) choir member.
“It’s a mix of emotions upon seeing photographs of my fellow brethren who had completed their race. As a witness to their profound dedication to fulfilling their duty and calling, I’m even more inspired to hold onto my faith until the very end,” said finance officer Julieta Victorio, 86 years old, one of the longest-serving officers of the Pandacan Congregation.
“The exhibit served as a reminder of the congregation’s rich heritage and the unwavering faith of its pioneering members,” said Brother Bauto. “It is our hope that it would contribute to the deepening of the brethren’s faith and further motivate them to continue doing what pleases God.” — With reports from Carmina Arce and Pierre Anthony Racsag
