“My long life and performance of duty as a deacon in the Church I owe to God’s eternal mercy. It is always the right choice to rely on Him,” said Pablito Labios, an 84-year-old deacon in the Local Congregation of Maligaya, Ecclesiastical District of Caloocan North, Philippines, as he reflects on the lesson taught during a special gathering of Church officers on March 25, 2025, led by district supervising minister Brother Ariel B. Barzaga.
From the host site, the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Bagong Silang 5, Brother Barzaga’s preaching was livestreamed to that of four other local congregations: Camarin, Mt. Heights, Deparo, and Punturin.
In his Bible-based preaching, Brother Barzaga emphasized that seeking the Lord God’s help should be done in whatever situation a Church member is in. It is always the correct choice to rely on Him at all times, being the source of blessings in this life and the life to come.
“As I’ve trusted God in the past, I will trust Him ‘till the end,” Labios added.
Another attendee was deaconess Marina Pasion, a deaconess in Bagong Silang 5 for 40 years now, who said, “I remember my early years as a Church officer. Challenges were severe back then yet such only strengthened my resolve to rely on God. This zeal I continue to impart to the younger generations of the Church.”
Brother Barzaga exhorted the brethren that during challenging situations in life, they must all the more prove their faith in God by remaining loyal and prayerful to Him, always seeking His help and mercy that their selfless efforts in upholding their duties will never be in vain.
“We thank the Church Administration for always nurturing our faith. This gathering was also in consonance with the fifth anniversary of our district. We promise to ever be united in pleasing our Lord God,” said Brother Rhoedman Lloyd Ibañez, the district Christian Family Organizations overseer. — With assistance from Bryan Langit
