On the heel of Typhoon Krathon, which struck Taiwan with heavy rain, intense wind, and strong storm surge, on October 6, 2024, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in all the 15 local congregations, one extension, and five group worship services (GWS) of Taiwan Ecclesiastical District held Care for Humanity events.

Thousands of care packages, which contained canned goods, instant noodles, and rice, among other basic necessities, were distributed to those who were affected by the typhoon.

On the said date, Care for Humanity events were held in every local congregation. District supervising minister Brother Roel O. Castillo, and assistant district supervising minister Brother Ranilo Borrero were on-site at the houses of worship of the Local Congregations of Taipei City and Baoshan, respectively.

Lauro Huang, Filipino Chinese Association president, expressed his gratitude being among the beneficiaries. “This giving of aid continues being evident not only throughout Taiwan but the world over. Truly a good cause and a big help to those in need,” he added.

“It’s so much help. This aid you’ve given us is more than a week’s supply. Thank you very much,” enthused nonmember Melanie Abali.

Later that day, all congregations held evangelical missions at respective houses of worship. Doing so is what Church members deem as the most important aid they could offer to their nonmember fellowmen, being the opportune times to share God’s words that will lead to salvation from the worst disaster, that is, eternal punishment on Judgment Day. Close to 500 guests were able to attend the evangelistic activity.

One of them was MJ Asuncion whom the Taipei City Congregation invited. “I’m thankful for being here. I look forward to more events like this as I want to learn more about the biblical teachings upheld by the Iglesia Ni Cristo,” he said. — With reports from Karen Analee Abalos of INC News Section
